Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

This week, our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, dave@ebay and marco@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. Just a quick query. Could you please explain why the word 'each' appears after the BIN price on listings where a multi-buy offer has been enabled?

Here's an example of a listing which has more than one quantity available (but no multi-buy offer):

And here's an example of a listing where there is also more than one quantity available, but a multi-buy offer has been enabled:

In this example, the word 'each' has been added after the price.

One of our customers contacted us about this. They felt that when the listing title states how many items are in the lot, e.g. 10 coasters, but the price states £5.95 each, this is at best confusing, and at worst, misleading. Is the word 'each' really necessary, especially as it doesn't appear in multi-quantity listings where a multi-buy discount hasn't been enabled?

That'd be the price per item, so buyers know what the actual price for each item is, this is basically to avoid confusion for buyers.

Hi, is the above normal? Because if it wasn't free I wouldn't pay for it.

Seems very expensive per click given the return, is 56p per click really good value given this is advertising in one specific place (eBay) on top of all the other fees we are paying?

I can see why eBay wanted me to set it at £30 a day, I do admire your optimism.

Yes, it is designed to work like that. If you are not happy with it, please note that it is not mandatory and you don't have to use it if you don't agree with it.

In the first example, more than one item is available, but there's no multi-buy discount, and therefore the developers have decided that buyers do not need to be told that the stated price is for 'each' item, because it stands to reason.

In the second example, it's exactly the same, more than one item is available for that listing, but in this instance, a multi-buy discount has been enabled. However, the developers have decided that the word 'each' has to be included after the BIN price.

In both examples, buyers could buy more than one item, should they choose to, but only in the second example do they need to be told that the stated price is for each item. If buyers aren't confused in the first scenario, I would guess that they wouldn't be confused in the second scenario.

The team has just gotten back to me, and they've confirmed that what I've said above is correct. However, we understand where you are coming from, so they've said they will take that into consideration for future updates, but like we always say, please note that this doesn't necessarily means that the changes will be implemented.
