Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

This week, our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay and marco@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.

If custom postage is allowed for a certain category then it should appear on the listing. If you have example listings where the sellers have been able to use custom postage for the same category you are trying to list in then send them on to me and will have it checked.

Update:

received a reply from eBay customer service by email after contacting them on Live Chat and they explained to me how to list items larger than 61 cm - medium parcel. All sorted out now. But thanks for your help.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine.

I may have asked this previously but my memory is going in old age. Are the mods on here real humans or just bots? I have messaged 3 different usernames multiple times and not a single reply. I am thanked for my loyalty every time I contact eBay but they can not show a single piece of courtesy in replying to a genuine question about their questionable actions. I cant start a thread on it as its agaisnt the forums T&C's so obviously the logical thing to do is to PM them but then they ignore you.

Im hoping they are bots as otherwise they are all (at least 3) incredibly rude and seem above any rules of just common courtesy which is the least I expect.

Thanks, wasn't sure if it had been seen. Did you also see the post about how the bulk postage page used to automatically select the postage method that the buyer chose? I've recently had a disappointed buyer in the UK who'd selected 1st, but I missed that and sent by 2nd so they're not happy about the delay.

Why are private sellers still being allowed to list home baked products?
No full ingredients or allergen lists, no food standards rating.

Only business sellers are permitted to sell such items, why isn’t the listing ‘not allowed’ at time of submission?

It’s the same with baby toys, when are you going to adhere to your own policies.

Issues on our business account

We daily end, and sell similar, approx 30 to 70 per day, on average 25% to 50% of my sell similar are not uploading my promoted listing rates from the ended listing. The process is forgetting/not uploading the PL information from the ended listing, this is happening daily has been for over 2 weeks.

Unsold/Inactive – Before the tinkering, ending bulk listings would appear in unsold immediately. For the past month or so, its no longer instantaneous, taking unspecified time and without notification. Unless sellers note the count its creating issues with further, selling, editing and deleting

Baby products – Yes, again, 10's of thousands of inventory and thousands of Ebays sellers are breaking Ebays baby products policy and the platform is not policing it, the private seller listings figure continues to increase

Additionally customers from GPSR countries are messaging me and telling me they are getting non-GPSR compliant Baby products through the platform. The platform is assisting in this process by shipping them through GSP. This isnt a policy its EU legislation, yet the platform has is selling them and delivering them with GSP

Disappearing views – I have had approx 160 auctions for the past month, relisting every 7 days. Every 7 day cycle 95% of listings get views in 24/48 hours. Then after a few days 80% of views disappear? Is this Bot clearance? I thought Ebay had cleaned the bot problem, has it come back? Why are views disappearing?

We have no AI/bots to do moderation in our community, it is all done manually by people. You are allowed/able to argue or reply to the actions in question taken. However, the team is not required/obligated to reply to these messages. Most of the time, they might come back to you if they think that your arguments are valid and they need to undo any actions already taken.

There are many listings/accounts that get automatically flagged and removed on site on a regular basis but they may not catch all listings all of the time. If you have a specific listing example please share and we can use this as feedback to our internal teams for improvement on these policies.

Every message I send it valid otherwise I wouldn't send it, I don't ever just waste time and send a copy and paste message to people as I value my time and theirs.

Sadly we cant argue/debate as they lock threads/delete comments and then ignore PM's, so please tell me how I can argue (agaisnt the forums T&C's according to the mods) but lets call it debate if they lock threads/delete comments and then dont reply to a PM? There is simply no other way. I'm all ears though.
