Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. I asked a few weeks ago in regards GSPR and was told that eBay would be looking into dealing with sellers who continue to sell to the EU/Northern Ireland whilst having no details in regards information like responsible EU representative etc but it may take time as it’s happening in the background. What should we, as sellers do, in regards other sellers who are not only not filling in those details and continue to sell to the EU/NI but are filling in false information stating that their responsible EU representative is actually in the UK, not Northern Ireland, and that it is exactly the same as their registered address in the UK?

There isn't a direct flow for reporting that specific issue. You can report the seller here using the Other option. You can then enter your concerns in the text box and it will be passed internally to the relevant team for review.

Thank you for that Dave - but what if that has already been done and it came back as no breach of eBay rules? Can I, as a seller just put a UK address - the same address as the business, in as the responsible EU person, which by very definition is outwith the UK?

What's going on with the Watch List functions...

1. The top banner has been removed on item pages, so now you have this 'heart' symbol, that fails to tell you on which list the item is saved to.

2. Now on an item page, you cannot add the item directly to one of your separate custom lists, as the drop-menu has now been removed.

3. Instead you have to add the item to the master Watch List; then open the master WL to move the item to one of your separate custom lists. BUT a bug exists because... when you delete it from the master WL, and it also gets deleted from the separate custom list it was added to as well?

Supporting side-hustlers: HMRC to raise threshold for self-assessment to £3,000

This hasn't come in yet but has caused much confusion on the boards, this may never come in. Certainly could be years away.

Poor timing in my view and why call it a side-hustle have they read what a hustle actually is.

It too American for the UK market.

I appreciate that but until its close possibly by 2029 isn't close, and like i said my not come in at all.

Try 6 months away once you get a date it is actually coming in. Also make it clearer what the trading allowance is would be a good idea.

We all like a heads up when it something we need to thinking about 2029 isn't even close.

Hello all,

I found out that Parcelforce ( who I use) can provide an age verification delivery service. I tried to amend a listing which had been hidden but it would not accept it.

At the moment, only UPS are accepted by Ebay. Will other couriers be added?

I have quite a few canteens of cutlery which I now cannot list.

Can I just question the wording of that announcement too, a “side hustle” is an American term, the announcement pertains to a UK HMRC policy.

American tax laws and UK tax laws as we all know are very different.

Given the current HMRC and NI implementation on platforms, and the fact the chancellor has just announced the tax evaders are in the government sights shouldn’t the authors of these FYI announcements choose the words that are better suited to the country they are intended for?

Encouraging “side hustlers” who then eBay let trade on the site, avoiding eBay fees selling, thousands of brand new items denying buyers their legal rights and doing nothing about it isn’t good for anyone.

Postage:

On normal (non-Simplified) postage, two issues:

1. Shipping labels:

When selecting collection (i.e. postal worker collection from seller), seller's are not able to have them bring the postage label, so we have to print it out ourselves ("Printable label" is the only option). But if we use Royal Mail & Evri's own website they do have the option to bring the label. Why the needless difference?

2. Insurance:

If we're sending an item using Royal Mail Special Delivery, why are we only offered the basic "up to £750" insurance option, when RM offer two higher tiers. If the item being shipped sold for say £2000, we are not being offered the higher tiers (£1000 then £2500). Why?
