Someone is not being clear about this here for you.

eBay do not cancel items they are just the selling platform they cannot cancel an item for a buyer's request, but a seller can.

All the seller needs to do is to cancel the order citing ' Buyer Requests to Cancel'. This fully refunds you, it doesn't affect their seller account, and with no issue, they can relist the item.

So it's not eBay you need to be angry at, but the seller , who actually is not obliged to accept a cancellation request, but cannot put the blame on eBay not doing this for you.

Disgusting I cancelled this item a guitar because it would take way way way too long to arrive, I cancelled this the same day I ordered it , now ebay say I can't get a refund or cancel this guitar ,now I'm outraged, disgusted, angry and sad at ebay for not letting me cancel this item ,it's absolutely shocking, disgraceful, I have never been so angry at a company, I even contacted the seller and they say I can't get a refund or they can't cancel my guitar, I'm absolutely outraged at this company

To add.

If seller does not refund, then do the following.

If it was collection item, open item not received 7 days after payment.

If delivery, open item not received case 1 day estimated delivery date, escalate on day 4.

Much easier if seller cancels and refunds now.

Now that it has been explained to you that it is the seller who is responsible for cancelling NOT ebay, you should eventually reflect this in feedback.

You do not buy from ebay, you buy from a seller on ebay and it is up to seller to cancel.

Everything that has been said about eBay not being able to cancel an order that a buyer has placd with a seller is of course correct. It's just a pity that eBay can't bring itself to state this up front.

As so often, eBay can't resist putting a spin on it's headlines with more buyer-friendly terms like "How buyers can cancel an order" and "We understand that there are occasions when orders will need to be cancelled". Both wilfully misrepresent the actual situation that buyers can't cancel an order! So why not say so?

These should correctly read "Buyers cannot cancel an order. They can ask the seller, but sellers are not required to agree" and "We understand that there are occasions when buyers may wish to cancel an order, but sellers are not required to agree".

We don't have to look far for examples of spin-spotting on eBay. The link to eBay's money back guarantee in every listing is a classic! "Shop hassle-free with eBay Money Back Guarantee. There's no extra fee." Come off it, eBay; it's actually called a buyer protection fee! So this description isn't quite exactly the whole truth, is it?
