Some 16 days after buying it.

WHEN

i bought a pair if Ugg boots in the winter and I couldn’t get my foot in them BUT eBay wouldn’t allow me to return them.

thanks for any comments

Have they opened a returns dispute?.

You have no returns on your listings which should cover for an item that does not fit.

Have they just returned it themselves

They shouold open a dispute for not a return and you should be able to refuse if you have no returns on your listing (which you do)

https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/return-process.html

If they opened a not as described dispute then you would have to accept it back and pay the return postage

If you are a Private Seller you do not have to accept Change of Mind/Item Does Not Fit Returns. Presumably your Listings say RETURNS NOT ACCEPTED?

Buyers seem to think they can return anything today. Which of course they can when buying online from business sellers. Plus no-one seems to read conditions, returns policies or even item descriptions these days! Are people becoming more childlike? Or is it just that everyone uses tha app today, and the small print is just to small to bother with?

Anyway, it's your call. You can refuse the return, in which case you can expect at least a tantrum. More likely the buyer will suddenly remember that it was not as described in some way, and open a case under eBay's money back guarantee. EBay will support them, they never see the item and will take the buyer's word against the seller's.

At least they've paid the return postage themselves. In your position I'd grit my teeth and send them a cancellation request through the resolution centre.

Thanks for your reply
I wasn’t asked - just received an email from eBay saying they wanted to return it and it had been approved -
She said it’s a lovely jacket and the size 14 (M&S) clearly shown in the photo but doesn’t fit
Well re above
I have replied saying it’s as described and photos clear and true
This morning ebay mailed me to say I hadn’t responded ! I have sent 3 messages all clearly logged. So I ask ebay to step in
They acknowledged my request and 5 minutes later said they had accepted the return and I would be paying the return postage, So where’s the fairness to the seller?

If the buyer opens a not as described dispute you have to send a pre paid label for the return and refund in full when you receive the item back
Did they open a returns request or a not as described dispute

You, as a seller, should never ask ebay to step in as they step in straight away and will either request the buyer to return it or refund immediately from your paypal account

You should have waited for the buyer to escalate the dispute. They have 8 days from opening the dispute
Too late now

Did they open a returns request or a not as described dispute?.

You need to check as when you refund you may end up paying the fees and a defect if ebay stepped in.

Did you read the link to the returns proccess in my post above

Yes I do not accept returns as stated on my listing
The buyer went thru the resolution centre but I had replied 3 times saying it was exactly as described and photos and tape measure showing bust measurement all correct. The buyer stated it was “ not as described”
Ebay sent me yet another mail this morning asking me to respond so that’s why I asked them to step in
But if it happens again I’ll not do that . Thanks for every body’s help but it doesn’t look as tho I can do any thing and to rub salt into the wound I have to pay the return postage!

You do not accept returns if the item is just a change of mind

If they open a not as described dispute the all sellers accept returns as if they dont ebay will make them.
That is ebay policy

The buyer - as some suspected - opened a "not as described case". It is usually pointless - as you did - resisting this. We know it is seen as "unfair" but eBay always finds for the buyer as they have no way of doing any investigation and it's simply one person's opinion against another's!

The only way in cases like this is to accept the case as soon as possible and get the return. As eBay was involved you may have been given a defect to add insult to injury ...
