Question Faulty exercise bike in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

Hi,

I bought an exercise bike from abroad, once i assembled it i found the wheels don't spin round properly making it impossible to use. I know it is assembled correctly as i have had one before (but a different make).

I contacted the seller and they told me to send them a video, i tried to upload it to youtube as they suggested which didn't work in the format it was in and they sent a link to 'mybridge' i think - i tried to use that but it didn't work either.

They then offered a £7 refund (the bike was £37.45). This is completely unacceptable as i have recieved a product i can't use. The problem is i can't return it as the postage would cost me more than the product itself.

I can't find any means of help on ebay as it all just leads back to 'return the item'. Surely there must be something else i can do?? i have a exercise bike sat in my flat that doesn't work and i it seems i can't get my money back!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Linda

You do normally have to return the item for a refund. You can try contacting ebay and see if they will offer a "no fault" refund. Use one of the phone options or live chat at the bottom of this:

https://ocsnext.ebay.co.uk/ocs/cusr?query=166&levelHierarchy=3a6a3

When an item isn't as described you can go to the resolution centre and open a case under eBay's money back guarantee: http://resolutioncentre.ebay.co.uk/

A case must be opened within 30 days after the actual (or latest estimated) delivery date. If still unresolved after 8 days the option will appear to escalate the case for eBay to step in. As the seller is abroad eBay's system of prepaid postal labels doesn't apply so you will probably have to return the item at your own expense. If you're not prepared to do this you can't win the case. I'm afraid this is just one of the risks of importing items through eBay. If you return it, be sure to use a tracked service to provide proof of delivery.
