Problem with faulty item - Return

Hi guys,

I've bought an item on ebay recently, received it and noticed it is faulty.

The item was bought on ebay.co.uk and sent from the UK to the UK.

Now the seller is requesting me to return the item to CHINA . His ad basically states that I am the one to pay for return shipping costs, which are by the way very expensive (around 80 pounds).

1st question: is this possible, considering the UK-UK transaction? I always avoided buying overseas to avoid this hassle...

So my final feeling is that I will have a lot of headache and as a prize, still will give away 80 pounds. I basically get my order payment back (hopefully) but won't have the product , plus the best bit is that I will have 80 pounds loss.

2nd question: is this fair? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?
