Hi.

I sold an item last month but the buyer requested a refund.

Even though I could have argued a point I decided to comply.

So, even though I'm out of pocket eBay are charging me a Final Value Fee.

That can't surely be right!

If you refunded straight from paypal then you will be charged the final value fees and a defect on your account

You needed to send a cancellation request through the resolution centre and allow ebay to refund and take the money from your paypal account

You would then have received your final value fees back and no defect

Try phoning ebay tell them you refunded and see what they do.

if you open a cancellation after you have refunded through paypal then it says ebay will refund and it is a bit of a grety area if they refund again or not

All disputes or cancellations should be done through the resolution centre so ebay know you did not get the money or you refunded
