Hi. Not sure if anyone has been in a similar position and would be able to help me.

I sold a used iPhone 5s damaged For spare parts only last September. The buyer was late in paying but that was resolved and I posted it off to them.

A few days ago he opened a case with PayPal saying that the item was not as described and that I had listed it as 'damaged but usable'.

Firstly, How on earth can he make a claim after more than 4 months? He paid £50 for the phone so is it unreasonable of me to assume that he would know that there was something wrong?

My next gripe is with EBay themselves- they have deleted all my transactions that are older than 90 days so I cannot defend myself and prove that the listing clearly stated that the phone was being sold for parts only.

Paypal have requested that I credit my account with that amount (in anticipation of refunding him??) I don't think so!

Paypal have also not paid my monthly Spotify subscription from my account.

I have responded to the buyer's request for a refund but he has not replied as yet. I suspect he will wait until the last day when PayPal will close the case and force me to issue the refund.

Does anybody know how to contact EBay as I have been trying without success and also does anyone know whether or not they will be able to produce the 'deleted' listing.

Thank you for listening! I should have added, ' How on earth do I reply to a post?' Help!

Thank you corred and red_magpie for your suggestions. I can see why Ebay would delete listings after 90 days due to space, but they cannot take away my right to prove the wording of my listing (that is the only issue here!) and enable a dishonest person to claim their money back for buying a phone that they thought was in working order.

Also, (just a thought!), if I am forced to issue the refund, should Ebay refund me the 10% they earned from the initial sale and Paypal, the 3.45%? Interesting!

Thank you again, and I will definitely be in touch with Paypal with regards to the 180 day period.
