Has anyone ever received an item that they didn't order and their item was sent to another buyer? My Item was sent to the ebay Global postage Center from England to be sent to the US but it wound up in Ireland and the person in Ireland got my item and I got their item. Ebay says that both items were delivered and they don't want to persue it further. It was ebays mistake at the Global postage center and now I'm out the $200.00 US I paid for the item. Anyone have a similar problem with ebay and how did they handle it?

Cesare23

It's unbelievable that eBay has just washed its hands of this!

It's not uncommon for sellers to accidentally send the wrong items, but it's up to the seller to sort it out. The buyers can if necessary use eBay's money back guarantee if the items received were not what they ordered. How absolutely typical that eBay doesn't want to know when it's their own system at fault!

A bit more information would help us to advise you. Are you positive that the fault was with eBay/Pitner Bownes, and that the seller themselves didn't wrongly address the parcels?

Secondly, what contact did you have with eBay? If you simply phoned them this sort of uncomprehending reply is what you're liable to get from their call centre in the Philippines. Did you open a case under eBay's money back guarantee? If so, the answer you received is even more unacceptable.

If you haven't opened a case I suggest that you do so now.

If all else fails you can open a case under PayPal's 180 day buyer protection policy. They shouldn't be concerned with eBay's problems with its global shipping service. And most importantly, unlike eBay, PayPal is regulated by the FSA so you have a right of appeal to the financial ombudsman. Until recently you couldn't open a case with PayPal if you had already opened one with eBay, but now that they are separate companies I understand that this has changed.

Good luck!
