Help please!

I'm in desperate need of help please. I bought a bag from seller. Bag did not arrive despite waiting seven days from due date of arrival of said bag. I contacted the buyer whom I have to say has been really helpful but I opened a case as wanted it all to go through properly. The seller agreed to refund me which he did today however for some reason it didn't go through as a refund just as a payment received by seller. I closed the case as it was resolved between us. My problem is that Paypal are still taking the money from my bank on 24th July. I have a buy now, pay later arrangement with PayPal. It seems PayPal don't recognise the refund from the seller as an actual refund, just as me receiving a payment into my PayPal account. I asked the buyer if he could cancel the order from his end but says he can't as I had requested to do this but I can't see how I did this and if I did how do I cancel a cancel the order request. I feel it's such all a mess and looks like I'm going to end up paying for an item I've never received.

Sorry i I have no idea how to reply to replies to my post but wanted to thank you for your answer. I just couldn't for the life of me work that one out!! All I can say is it's been a long day and feel so stupid that I didn't work that one out for myself. I just somehow couldn't get my head around it but it all makes sense so thank you so much. I feel such a fool. 🙄

you've received a refund (albeit as a payment from the seller) so until your payment is taken from your account you haven't paid for anything and the seller is down TWO payments!

once the payment is taken you and the seller will be square, as you have already been given the money back.
