Question International postage in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

Anyone know why eBay's charges for international postage are so exorbitant? Not the seller's charges, but the prices eBay adds as an extra. 11 quid to send an xs cycling shirt! Had an excellent seller send me shorts and shirt and the postage was £5.60. Looks like another eBay money making scheme.
