Is it possible to get real time help from eBay?

The help site just keeps asking if this solved the issue and when saying NO, it just takes you back to the same place.

You can get to talk or live chat with eBay through "help and contact" above. They offer call back. You need to ensure that the understand the nuance of what you are calling about rather than a standard question.

But what do you want to knwo about "best offers"? We can probably tell you!

Hi,

Buyer made a best offer for an item but it elapsed while I was away from
the computer.

The system does not permit using the item number to contact the member
after that so the only way I could send an email to him to say the offer
would be accepted if resent, was to send an email stating THIS IS NOT TO
DO WITH AN ITEM so it may not have been read.

A totally ridiculous system that prevents members buying or selling
items - not a great USP for an auction site.

what questions do you have about 'best offer'?

it's quite a simple concept

the seller (or ebay) add it to a listing

the seller can set an amount to automatically reject/accept below/above

on fixed price listings sellers expect offers below the asking price

on auction style listings the expect offers above the start price and the option is removed as soon as a bid is placed

bidders can make up to three offers per listing,

sellers can accept, counter offer or reject any offer

once an offer has been accepted the item has sold and the bidder has to pay for the item

your title says 'best offer' so I gave information about best offer, i.e 'real time help' about the subject! if you would like to tell us WHAT you would like help with, we will try to answer, if you want to contact ebay you have to use the help & contact and drill down through all the layers until you reach the contact us, but they will only read from the help pages so you won't be any the wiser!

best offers expire after 48 hours, that is how the sytem works, ebay don't allow contact outside of the 'offer' to prevent 'off sales'
