What makes someone a "Community Expert"

Who are these so called "community experts" who pop up in support of ebay whenever anyone posts about something which they dislike? I've noticed some of them have very low feedback scores, what is it that qualifies them to give advice? Or are they as I suspect simply minimum wage ebay drones sat in front of a computer all day?

You couldn't be more wrong. We aren't drones or on a Minimum Wage we are approved Volunteers. Low Feedback Scores are Experts Posting Accounts. Most of them are very experienced Business Sellers.

We or at least I do not profess to be a Community Expert that is a title ebay gave us.

We have low feedback scores because we choose not to use our other accounts to answer on here as we have been in the past open to people abusing our accounts to get at us or be rude to us or acuse us of being ebay staff.

Many of us have many throusands of feedback some have businesses and many of us have been on ebay for many years.

And No we are not ebay drones but we do use our own spare time to try and help others with problems and indeed have many who we have helped.

Of course there are always those like yourself who do not appreciate it but then you can not please all the people all of the time or give replies just to please.

Then as an "expert" I suggest you take a look at my post regarding ebays inability to do simple mathematics and see if you can put positive spin on that for your masters

ebay charge 12.8% plus 30p per transaction, so nothing wrong with ebays maths!

Some years ago a number of experienced buyers/sellers were ask to join the 'experts' group that eBay were forming.

As they were not and are not eBay employees, they gave the best advice they could in an unbiased manner.

The vast majority are happy with the advice given, a few not so, usually because they don't get what they want to hear.

Some say thank you, some don't, some insult, some believe we are paid by eBay – not true.

Yes, there are problems with, for example, MP, many don't like it and having it forced on them, many say they are leaving, some do.

A month ago you indicated you were going to stop selling, that's your right, now you put up new listing, that's your right.

I certainly don't consider myself an expert, that is what ebay has labelled us.

But I do have quite a bit of spare time now I'm retired and I choose to post on the boards to try and help those who need it. We are volunteers so no, we don't get paid by ebay and as advised, sometimes people are grateful, sometimes not.

I looked at your previous post as you suggested.There is nothing wrong with my maths even though it is a long time since I was at school, There is nothing wrong with ebays maths either. !2.8% of £10 when I went to school was £1.28. Ebays fees 12.8%+30p = £1.58 so your fees were exactly as they should have been. You have been told that several times so keep going over it is not going to change the charges and neither is being rude to others just because you did not get the reply you wanted.

Your comment about low feedback is because they have seller accounts and keep this account for the Answer Centre.

We are on the minimum wage £0, but we try to give far better answers than you will generally get from PAID employees of Ebay, some of the information and answers they give are more intended to let the member hear what they want to hear , rather than an accurate answer.

If by minimum wage you mean unpaid and if by employees you mean volunteers then yep - your suspicions are correct.
