Question Retracted Bids in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

I can appreciate the frustration that Sellers experience with retracted bids but the practice can seriously impact on Bidders as well. Take my experience: after I placed a high bid on an item, another bidder increased his bid progressively, until his bid exceeded mine... then he retracted it. There were no other bidders on that item and I could have obtained it for little more than its Starting Price but for this other bidder, who was clearly acting on behalf of the Seller. My ebay research established that this "bidder" had retracted over a hundred bids within the previous twelve months and actually bought very few items.

Surely ebay should be checking on the behaviour of serial retractors?

You can report for Shill Bidding, but doubt any action would be taken. You should have retracted your bids, then bid again very close to the end of the auction when it is too late for any more dodgy bidding.

You do have the option to leave Feedback, but will need to be careful what you say, as it may not be shill bidding just a bidder who likes fooling around without buying anything.
