Suspected scam

hi I recently won a bid on a rare car manual.

Paid via PayPal as usual and it sat pending and unclaimed for days.

Contacted seller and he said he hadn’t used PayPal in a while and didn’t know how to set it to work again ( the listing shows he takes PayPal).

Agreed to do a bank transfer and paid him and he confirmed receipt in a text.

looked ok as he had well over 200 feedbacks 100 percent positive ( on much closer inspection this was all feedback for him buying not selling).

My issue is he keeps telling me items sent but I never receive a parcel.

Won’t give me a tracking number and won’t mark my payment as paid.

This last point is where all the problems occur because I can’t raise it with eBay in the resolution centre. The automated process doesn’t recognise the transaction simply because I didn’t use PayPal and they buyer has not marked payment as received.

It may yet turn up and he may just be a flakey buyer but I now think this is a scam.

i accept that I my have to right off the money but it’s frustraiting I can’t warn other ebays or report him I find it does prove to be a scam.

What can I do to get eBay involved please?

Sorry but EBay won't help you. You are only covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee if you Pay through PayPal.

Ok but I’d argue eBay facilitated this as theeedback is misleading and the fact that it shows that it takes PayPal when the buyer then makes out they won’t takes you on a journey to this fraud and I’d argue that PayPal status sshould be shown
