If we dont keep a careful control over packaged orders we have no way of putting them back in posting order should we drop them. Does anyone know how to 'read' the order number system to put orders in the right sequence please?

I have no idea what you mean

You may be better asking your question on the seller boards

Site map at the bottom of the page then Discussion boards then Seller Central

I have n=managed to speak to a real eBay person (no mean feat in itself) It was admitted to me that the 12 digit order number is randomly generated. There is no information to be gleaned form an order number, except as a link to the order details. If, as I did, a load of packages is dropped on the floor, and their sequence lost, it is only possible to organise them again for Royal Mail Click'n'Drop by looking up the list od dipatched orders for the day. If you know how, it is possible to interpret bar codes by eye; eBay order numbers are meaningless in themselves as they are randomly generated, and contain no logical code. I consider this to be a foolish arrangement by eBay. Am I the only one?

I don't know if this helps, but when sold each sale has a number which represents your number of sales since the beginning. This is shown in the second column on the Seller Hub.

When paid for this number then becomes an ebay number with as far as I can see has no sequence at all, for example 21-06631-38100. When clicking on this number on the left side of the order details the original serial number is shown.

As the original numbers are in sequence this may help.
