Have many sellers had cases of buyers not receiving items sent through usual Post Office delivery just lately? Know postage can be later than is usual but just had notification from ebay (first I knew about it) that a lady has not received a dress pattern which I posted on 26th June! Do not know why she did not contact me after a couple of weeks! This has been over a month. I think ebay should stipulate that the buyer should contact seller after a couple of weeks if not received item and that ebay should say after say 6 weeks that is it. Fortunately I have learnt lesson and keep all Proof of Posting now but in the past did throw away after a month or so.

Anyone got any tips - know we can do signed for - but on an pattern sold for £2.50 or less it hardly seems worth it.

You don't need to use signed for. All Royal Mail parcel services now come with a 16 digit delivery number on the receipt. This can be entered on RM's track and trace web site to check whether it has been delivered. EBay accepts the result of this tracking.

EBay already sets a time limit of 30 days to open a money back guarantee claim for non-delivery.

That said, you need to keep your postal proofs for much longer than this. PayPal allows buyers 180 days - that's 6 months! - to report that an item wasn't delivered, which I think is ridiculous. If you can't prove delivery, it's an automatic refund. And if the item was genuinely lost in the post, it's months too late to claim compensation from RM or any courier.
