Question Selling fees in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

Selling fees

I sold a wine fridge and got sent the payment less about £25, originally I thought this was just the selling fee being taken however I have now been invoiced by eBay for about 10% of the selling price. Does this mean the buyer didn’t pay me the full amount or that there were two sets of fees?

there are two sets of fees

The money that is taken straight away is paypals fee for processing the payment,

ebay invoice for their fees after the sale.

Paypal charge 2.9% plus 30p

ebay charge 10% of the total - item price plus P&P, as well as any listing fees you may have incurred

the first fees were PayPal fees that are taken immediately.

Paypal deduct their charge of 2.9% + a fixed fee of 30p. Ebay invoice their fees once a month. Why don't you look in Paypal and click on the payment to see full details.

There are two fees. PayPal charges 3.4% (3.9% for overseas payments) of the total selling price including postage, plus 20p. This is deducted from your payment at source.

EBay will invoice you monthly. EBay charges a 10% final value fee on the total sale price, including postage. There may be additional charges if you select any optional listing features, and these will be payable whether or not the item sells.

• When you sell an item on eBay you pay TWO companies
•
• First is Paypal who make a charge of 2.9% + 30p of the total amount paid. This is because when selling goods you become a merchant & the banks & card companies charge merchant fees on sales & Paypal charge for banking & transfer of those fees once received (These fees are nothing to do with eBay & would be charged on any monies received into Paypal for goods & services inc Gumtree, Shpock etc)

• Paypal take their fees before they credit the funds to your Paypal account
•
• Second you pay eBay the sales commission (Final Value Fee) on the transaction.....this is charged at 10% of the total sale price inc P&P as well as the fees for any optional extras like reserves, Buy Now etc
•
• The eBay fee is billed once a month either mid month to mid month or start of the month to the end of the month.
•
• The eBay final value fee fee is often split into two parts....the first is on the item price which is charged as soon as the item ends
•
• If the item is to be posted then the fee on the P&P is not charged until after the buyer pays (as they may choose a premium service or to collect in person)
