I just got an email just now to say I had listed an item and I haven't. It was a fridge freezer, Last year I had this happen and it was an xbox game. How can they get into my account and why would they want to? I don't understand this.

Usually you have clicked on a phising email that appears to be from ebay & given away your login details.

Change ebay & paypal passwords ASAP,

click on help & contact at top of page & search "someone used my account"

You are now registered as a business seller, have an odd address, and listing in euros. Much seems to have been changed on your account that you need to get put right, as well as increasing your online security.

What are you seeing that I'm not? My details are correct, what you are telling me is what was on the listing. I have changed password, but can't contact ebay till 8am

The information on the fridge listing would have been pulled from the data ebay have on file about your account (look in the account section for addresses etc), and so, if they are not right, it means the hacker has also changed these details and they need changing back.

@st-tyrone

As a general rule accounts are not hacked........eBay security is very tight......

The main causes of accounts being compromised are

1. Phishing emails.......these often appear to be genuine emails but if you click on any links then these can take you to spoof websites which will steal your log in details

2. The use of insecure public or free wifi........generally happens using mobile devices like tablets, phones etc where free wifi is offered (eg shops, pubs, restaurants......or even busses & trains).......these free servers can again be spoofed to look genuine whereas they belong to hackers who can see every action you take

3. Malware, keyloggers, viruses on your device

4. Insecure passwords.......you should change these regularly & use random wordin to include lower & upper case, numbers & special characters
