New account push

Bit of a strange one but hoping somebody might know.

I have a business account with 700+ listings over 20k sales and top rated seller and all the usual things eBay want to make you look like a trusted and reliable seller.

I have a collection that I need to get rid of as I need to use the room they are taking up so thought I'd just list on that account as even though I will have to pay VAT and fee's its a market with a lot of sellers and I'd still be making some money. Items have been up for a 6/8 weeks and sold some but not loads but we all know sales are slow. Now I've thought eBay are getting tens of thousands off me a year on my private account I might as well just list my collection on a private account and its been up for between 5 and 10 days and the difference is shocking.

For instance my most viewed item on the new private account currently sits on 425 views after 6 days whereas on my business account for the previous 30 it had 55, the item i listed first so been on the longest (10 days) has 252 views and on my business account after 30 days it was saying 35 views. I've used the same pictures, the same item specifics and wrote less in the item description as I don't need to let people know about my business or any returns.

Just to add on my business account I had them as a 5% standard promo whereas on the private account there are no promo so really they should be getting multiples less views.

So my question is are eBay pushing new accounts when they start selling or is my business account getting some sort of negative action taken on it? I'll be phoning eBay tomorrow but I suspect they will say sorry we can't talk to you about another accounts performance.

I dont thik we will ever know the workings around Ebays Algorithms - I know people see different things depending on their search history also have a look at your traffic in detail - is it going organically or externally - but I wouldnt read too much into it - I have lots of listings with lots of view and no sales and vice versa, its the sales that count -

Re the 5% promotions - I ditched them over a year ago and my organic views, after a month, matched previous promo views so from my personal experience of paying doesnt equal more - infact I think you are paying for nothing extra but that also can depend on the category you are in.

I thought that eBay always pushed new accounts. It makes sense as newby sellers need to see that their efforts have been worthwhile.

Perhaps it wasn't a great idea to post this here. You have admitted that you are now listing items, previously listed on your business account, on your private account.

Luckily, eBay seems to be totally unconcerned about business sellers operating on private accounts, and that's what you appear to be doing. You have tried to get your excuse / explanation in early, but, quite frankly, you would say that, wouldn't you?
