Private v Business

A business is someone buying goods to resell on ebay. Why then does ebay put messages in our private accounts inviting us to resell some of our past purchases??! Ebay has no business checking out our Xmas present purchases and asking us to resell !!! This isn't a method to try catching out sellers it is just an annoying AI attempt to fill more pages with unwanted info on our accounts.

because not everything you buy is being purchased for the purposes of immediately selling on for a profit.

If I bought say a floor sander as I was renovating an old house - I might only need it for one job - but it might be cheaper than renting one. But it was something I got use from, that was my personal possession that I can then sell on.

logically - ebay might want me to sell that again. ebay aren't clever enough though to differentiate between items that logically could be sold on again vs those that can't.

I don't really see the harm. It can be ignored....

It's got nothing to do with catching sellers out, I've bought loads of stuff on eBay and then not liked it when it arrived, so I've resold it. That doesn't make for a business seller, you're still selling off unwanted items.

I quite like the button, it encourages buyers to resell something they may not want to keep and may head a few spurious returns off at the pass if it's made that easy for them.

Im not sure why you are so worked up about a resell button. Ppl buy things, decide they dont want them and rather than pay the return postage decide to resell it... Its as simple as that. Ive often bought things and found they dont fit etc so resell. Its as simple as that.
