What Clothes Charity Shops reject and Bag up for Rags

This is a Bag of Clothes from a Charity shop that had been bagged up for Rags/Recycle as unsuitable to sell on the shop floor .. a lot are worse for wear..of course there are items of clothing here that are unsuitable for resale ,also there are one or two items that could still be worn again ..some well known Labels .may be after not been sold in the shop for a certain length of time they get ragged ..? ..I really don't know.. but im sure some of these could be sold on ebay .. I have to say that I have got very picky about the charity shops I donate to, as my Mum and my Aunty both work in shops which bin stuff after a fortnight - this is not rubbish which can't be sold, but just stuff that there was no buyer for in those two weeks.

It makes me really sad to think that may have given perfectly good stuff which has gone to rags, just because there was nobody looking that wore the right size clothes, or wanted things in that colour - but they might have gone in the following day when it had gone to rags.

I also feel a bit annoyed about the constant stock appeals, when I know full well they are throwing good stuff in the bin....

I tend to agree with you about the fact perfectly good clothing is being bagged as rags.

Trouble is now the charity shops are asking far too much for second hand goods and clothing, in my opinion the people who need to buy from charity shops can't because they still cannot afford the charity shop prices.

I personally love charity shops and sometimes need to buy from them but I refuse to because of the price hikes. I can also go to several different clothes shops on the high street now where I can buy cheaper new clothes.

Stuff may well be "sent for rags" but they mostly don't end up as rags. Some gets "sent abroad" and gets sold (as clothes) there.

I Helped out in a Charity shop - people are picky They don't buy tat,

you don't want stuff remaining on your racks/hangers, you want fast turnover

The Charity shop gets paid by weight for the stuff they recycle

I know a couple of charities in my area that recycle furniture etc to the needy and destitute

Even 'Charity cases' want modern stuff - loads of the stuff gifted from Old peoples houses is sent straight to the Tip

Perfectly good furniture discarded because it is not Modern - even the most needy turn their noses up at it

Please remember most of the Plastic bags, put through your letter boxes for Clothes are scams - very little goes to charity, from the people who pick stuff up in bags from your doorstep - donate it to known charity shops or in the large containers in car parks.

i quite like the Black Zip Skirt from Primark at [ 3:28] ..its atmosphere label ,and it fits me ,size 8 ,will do perfectly for waitressing

I once found a pair of Lee jeans in the rag bag at work.

They were perfect for length but were like a second skin, I don't think the boiling the rags get helped.

Two thirds of my wardrobe comes from charity shops - partly because I don't like the current fashions in the shops at the moment, and partly because I'm too tight to spend much money .

I'm very picky, and choose carefully. I have some really lovelly clothes, and never spent more than 2 quid on an item.

Some charity shops do ask too much for their clothes, I have seen Primark clothes priced higher than their original price! .

I love shopping in charity shops because you don't know what you are going to find. It's not a matter of "needing" to shop in them for most customers I know, just a wish to find something you won't find elsewhere. Yes, people are picky, and quite right, you have to like what you wear. True, there are shops in the High Street where you can get cheaper new clothes; but I'd rather find a better quality garment that might normally be out of my reach.

I too worry about clothes being binned after people have taken the trouble to put them in a bag and deliver them to the shop rather than put them out with the recycling, and donate to shops where I feel there is less chance of waste.

well i think they [charity shops] are more likely to rag the clothes if they are as in this bag 1/ Cheap Brand Label , such as the Black Pencil Skirt with the Zip ..its Atmosphere ..[Primark] as they are unable to make any profit ..2/ Flimsy Clothing ,there are a lot of Polyester and Lycra Skirts that are just too fragile to resell..Wornout or looking the worse for wear ..and Tights well obviously have to be ragged...its all about profit.

found this skirt in the attic of a charity shop where my nan works ..its a Lycra Dance Costume skirt by Danskin ..its a bit musty , like its been there for many years ..

What revolting pictures of filthy clothes. It's clear from your other threads before (such as the one about your grandma ripping your clothes off you, oh yeah, really?) that you have an obsession about dirty and torn skirts and tights, and taking selfies wearing them. Pity your grandmother didn't rip up that one too.

I dont know what other people who post on this forum think but who is interested in how much a filthy piece of clothing would have cost if new? And i think you know whether an item of tacky clothing is fit for sale on ebay (another thread) without having to ask on a forum, you have been a member for 15 years.

Perhaps there are fetish forums where your posts might be appreciated but on here they look like a wind up to me.
