Why is Friday 13th considered unlucky?

The belief that Friday 13th is an unlucky day is one of the most widely know superstitions in Britain today.

The superstition surrounding Friday the 13th is actually a combination of two separate fears — the fear of the number 13, called triskaidekaphobia, and the fear of Fridays.

Unlucky 13

It is unlucky to have thirteen at a table or in a company. The number 13, in the Christian faith, is the number of people at the Last Supper, with the 13th guest at the table being the traitor, Judas.

The unlucky number 13 is often left out when numbering houses, flats and hotel rooms.

Fridays

Fridays have been considered an unlucky day since the medieval times.
It is generally considered bad luck to start anything on a Friday - a new journey, job, marriage, business project, giving birth, moving house
It is unlucky to cut fingernails and hair on a Friday.
In Britain, Friday was the conventional day for public hangings, and there were supposedly 13 steps leading up to the noose!

Friday is consider an unlucky day in some religions

Muslims tout Friday as the day Allah created Adam
Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit on a Friday and later died on a Friday.
Christians consider Friday as the day on which Christ was crucified by the Romans.

Yep !!

Let's not forget that it is also paired with a full Moon !! So this June's Friday the 13th falls under a Full Moon & won't happen again until August 2049.

"Thirteen is a loaded number in cultural, religious and mythic history NORDIC MYTHOLOGY tells a tale of the 12 gods gathering for a dinner party, when a 13th guest walked in uninvited. The guest was Loki, a mischievous, trickster god. Loki took his bow and arrow and shot Balder the Beautiful, a god who represents joy and gladness, the story goes. Balder's death brought darkness and mourning into the world — and possibly lent the concept of a dinner party with 13 guests a shade of misfortune."

However One thing many seem to agree to is that both the number thirteen and the sixth day of the week (Friday) have been associated with negative connotations from patriarchal societies and most definitely western cultures. Where as matriarchal societies associate both these objects with positive aspects and connotations which is where I lean forward

In many pre-Christian cultures Friday is linked to a day of worship. In many pagan societies it’s the day to receive blessings from the gods. Many pagan cultures chose this 6th day of the week to celebrate and honor their gods/goddesses for the gifts they had received in the days prior and to petition their chosen deity for favor in the days of the coming week.

Egyptians believe life was a quest for spiritual ascension. This journey walks through 13 levels. The first 12 in this life and after transition, the thirteenth in the eternal afterlife. The number 13 in this case symbolizes death as a glorious and desirable transformation.

Many suggest it’s from this practice that the idea of transition and change are not linked to negative energies, but rather to the positive energies of enlightenment and journey to the Divine.

STOP,,STOP,, i dont like the number 13 but Friday 13th is even worse. I do leave my house though im not going to let it get to me that much.

I don't need a special number or day I get into enough scrapes at anytime although just to be on the safe side I'll be keeping well away from water today er just in case.
