All sellers please note that if purchasing Royal Mail postage through Ebay that Ebay have not updated their prices to reflect the "new" small parcel options.
I have sold several items over the past few weeks that qualify as small parcels under the new "wide" or "deep" options but Ebay still classes these as "medium" parcels.
I have reported this to Ebay via their "live help" facility but the 3 advisors I chatted do didn't seem to grasp what I was telling them.
Without wishing to offend, has anyone else used the "live help" and noticed that the people your chatting with have typically English sounding names yet type in a manner reminiscent of the way people talk in Indian call centres?

Welcome to eBay Live Help, my name is Adam, How may I assist you?
Hi, I have noticed that when purchasing Royal Mail postage through Ebay the prices for Small Parcels are not correct
Adam Spencer 20:26:07
Thank you for sharing your query, I'll surely check on this.
Adam Spencer 20:27:33
Thank you for waiting. I've checked on this now and would like to assure you that the you'll get the best guidance and support on this.
Several weeks ago Royal Mail introduced 2 options for Small Parcels giving a "wide option" or a "deep option" . This is not reflected in the options when purchasing postage through Ebay. As a result some parcels that would qualify for Small Parcel postage are being classed as Medium Parcels which cost twice as much
If I purchase postage directly from the Royal Mail site I get the correct new options but not when purchasing Royal Mail postage directly through Ebay
Adam Spencer 20:30:33
Yes. It might happen that some time it takes some time to update the rates on ebay. you must be knowing that ebay has a such a huge database. However there is chances that when the site will go to thwe maintenance next time it will be uodated.
Ok but it has been a few weeks since Royal Mail changed their prices. Surely if they put prices up rather than down you wouldn't carry on charging the wrong prices for several weeks?
Adam Spencer 20:32:42
No paul actually this is not true.
Adam Spencer 20:33:10
we want our community to get the best rates possible.
Adam Spencer 20:34:16
We work hard to provide them with the most recent udated prices but depending upon the sever and the load that we have on the server it takes some time to get updated.
Well that isn't happening. I tried to buy postage for an item I sold this evening and via Ebay it would have cost £5.20 when the correct price is £2.60.
Surely Royal Mail provide you with their prices? Not the other way round?
Adam Spencer 20:36:34

Hello and welcome to eBay Live Help, my name is Suzie. How may I be of assistance?
Hi I have noticed that your prices for purchasing Royal Mail postage when you have sold an item in the UK are not correct
Several weeks ago the Royal Mail reclassified the sizes for their "small" and "medium" parcels but this has not been updated on Ebay when purchasing Royal Mail postage
Suzie Phillips 20:53:13
Paul, I will be happy to assist you with this. Please give me a moment to check this.
I have sold several items recently that qualify as "small" parcels but which are classed as "medium" parcels on your site. There is 100% difference in the price between small and medium parcels
Suzie Phillips 20:55:16
I understand your concern, please wait while I look for the workaround.
Suzie Phillips 21:00:32
Please bear with me as I may need few more moments to look into this issue.
Suzie Phillips 21:06:11
Paul, I understand that we do not have the option for small size at the moment but I would surely forward this as a suggestion to our site team. Meanwhile, if you do not want to pay more, you may not add the details on eBay and add it directly via Royal mail while posting the item.
Yes, that is what I have been doing. You do have the option for the small size it is the dimensions of what qualifies as small size that have changed.
Suzie Phillips 21:09:28
Ohh, I deeply apologize for the inconvinience it has caused you. We are continously trying to make eBay a happy place to trade for our valued members. I appreciate your co-operation with this matter.
Suzie Phillips 21:09:46
I will surely forward this change to be made to our team soon!
So how long will it be before Ebay charge the correct prices instead of overcharging people. It has been several weeks since the prices changed?
Suzie Phillips 21:14:25
I will make sure the changes are made soon.
Suzie Phillips 21:14:41
May I know if there is anything else I can help you with today?
no that is all
Suzie Phillips 21:14:56
I appreciate the opportunity to have helped you with this information. We wish you happy trading on eBay. Good day!
