When you bid, only you and the seller can see your full ID. To any other viewer it will be disguised and will look something like a****b

If the seller makes their listing private, anyone who bids will have their ID's protected so they will appear as private bidders.

You also have the option of making all your feedback private but you won't be able to sell if you are using this setting.

why would you want to be

only the seller can make the listing private when they list the item

private listings hide shill bidding savvy bidders will walk on by and not bid so the seller gets less

private listings should only be for sensitive items

otherwise all ids are partially hidden only you and the seller can see the full id
