Suspended from selling because I gave some stolen items back to owner !!

What can I do??  I bought some N gauge locos from a man across my counter, he provided his passport as i.d. Put some items on ebay, 5 sold but before I posted them the next day the mans dad called to see me to say that his son had stolen them from him and needed money to fund his addiction to legal highs. I gave the items back to the rightful owner, thinking that it was better to cancel the transactions and give the money back rather than knowingly sell stolen property. I emailed the customers to told them what happened. Because i cancelled the transactions it has taken me over the 5% 'error?' rate. I cant speak to a real person at ebay, why would they punish me like this for doing the right thing? I would hope that If I could speak to a real person they might cancel these 'black marks' against me. Hope the above makes sense. can I do anything apart from give up?

Thanks
