Seller refusing to refund a product which description was misleading

Hi all,
I recently purchased an A3 scanner from a seller. I specifically researched a scanner that was compatible with Macs and was A3- I'm a designer and have to work to this size, so was happy to find one and purchased at the cost of a pricey £233.00!!
I bought the item on the 20th June and received the item a week later. I've opened up a case and sent the item back yesterday, but the seller is refusing to give me a refund.
I don't know what to do? He says that their is only a 30 day refund policy- which I count from the date the item was received, which would be the 27th June and the date the item was posted, was the 25th July. He on the other hand, counts it from the date of purchase.
It's a really hefty price to pay for something which I wouldn't have even bought had I have known it wasn't compatible. The description was misleading and I now feel robbed of £230.00, and I don't even have the scanner to show for it, as I posted back yesterday.
What should I do?

Thanks in advance,
Tabitha.
