Scam or not? Xbox One..

[ Edited ]

Just been looking at Xbox One listings to see if there are any obvious scams as over the past few days been reading posts about folks being scammed..

Reported a couple but just came across this very suss listing..

Zero feedback and gives explanation as to why he hasnt been left feedback for the 2 sales hes done..

Listing for the £1000 phone was removed by Ebay apparently..

I have 0 feedback but I should have 2!

Sold a phone but it was a scam buyer (it sold for over £1000 but he offered me £500)
And a top up voucher but buyer never paid

Wow.. they paid £1000 for a broken phone..!

There are loads of scams for this item at the moment.

Avoid these kind of listings, and report any that are obviously dodgy.

Here`s another:
"this is a photo of the xbox one . Printed onto a4 paper. "

Although it clearly states the above, its listed in under "Consoles" and in the specifics it says its a Home Console.

Reported.. Please report it aswell..

And another :

Xbox One Day One Limited Edition Box, Extremely Rare - Never to be Reproduced!!

says in listing "This is the box alone, please note that there will be no hardware or console included."

Although I dont think it breaks any rules it is obviously designed to fool bidders into thinking their buying the actual console and not just the empty box..

Reported.. again please report it ..

I`m just doing what Ebay should be doing!

I`ve not said they ARE scams..

Theres a "report listing" button on the listing itself

Yes, that YOU can report if you want to.

But it is against the rules for you to come on to these forums and repeatedly post item listing numbers of sellers you have reported, no matter how awful they are.

If you are right then its wrong that Ebay members cant alert others and Ebay to what are very dubious listings.

No doubt this thread will be locked or deleted..

No, it is not wrong of Ebay at all.

If naming and shaming were allowed, we would have all kinds of posters complaining about all kinds of listings, asking others to make reports on them when in fact, it could be that the original poster has made a mistake about the seller.

Or misinterpreted the wording.

You cant just go around asking others to report the listings you say should be reported.........its not on.

You say I`m naming & shaming, I`m just pointing out listings that are very suspicious Or obviously designed to fool..

If the listings are wrong then if Ebay contacts them they can edit their listing...

Its upto others if they want to defend scammers by NOT reporting them..

Why cant I suggest that if others agree that the auction is a scam then they should report it to get it removed?

You may think that I`m slagging off Sellers here on Ebay but I can assure you I am not.

The VAST majority and I mean 99.99% of Sellers are honest people and I think that they WANT these scams to be reported..

If Ebay is percieved as place that you could LOSE a lot of money then they & Ebay lose out..

What the heck is the "Report" option there for..

What you're doing is against board policy.

Use the report button on each listing you consider to be dodgy, you are not permitted to make post after post featuring listing numbers here.

That isnt the point.

You might be making posts with the listing numbers of genuine scammers..........but if that kind of thing was allowed, then someone else might be naming and shaming a seller but has got it wrong and that could result in a sellers business being affected.

If YOU see a listing thats is problematic in your view, then YOU report it to Ebay and then Ebay can decide what action to take.

YOU cant take that action yourself by spreading the listing number around on forums.

The rule is that noone can name and shame so that mistakes are avoided.

As opposed to a user assuming someone is a scammer but in reality has simply misunderstood the listing.

What is the point of this community if we dont help each other..?

Also of course it helps the scammers if we are unable warn others..

People arent idiots and can make their own minds up if a reported item is a scam or not.

The ones I listed were obviously designed to scam..

But you always get the "rules is rules" people, prob the same people who close their curtains if they see some poor sod being mugged outside their window... "nothing to do with me"

if I post listing title and dubious description from the listing without any item number or user id does that still break the rules?
