I have read of a few scams and obviously don't want to lose this much money - I had thought Paypal was 100% reliable - is it??

The help content goes in here!

For Paypal to be safe for sellers you must comply with their seller protection policy.  Info here:

Is this answer useful?

Perhaps a bit more info would help.

What is it that you have concerns about?

"Scam" reading here,http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=redalligator1

If the item is to be listed as collection only, then pay pal is definitely 100% NOT safe. You need cash for collected items,if you dont want to be the victim of fraudulent claims of non receipt and chargebacks,as pay pal do not provide seller protection for collected items.

Even if you post the item there is no seller protection on reversals.

These are generally where the bank takes back any monies paid, due to fraudulent activites.

If you are selling a car or motorbike then thankfully you do not have to accept paypal and should not do so.

Certain items attract the scammers. Mobile phones, gold & jewellery, cameras and high end electrical items, but nothing is immune.

Make sure you have your buyer preferences set as tight as possible. You will find these in my ebay > account > site preferences.

Sometimes it is better to use a conventional auction house and pay the higher fees.
