sending by courier

Hi. I have a expensive side saddle for auction at the moment. I have stated on the listing "because of weight and bulk collection only" I now have someone saying if they win the bid they will get a courier to collect. Nowing what couriers are like I do not want to send by them but ment collection from my home. As I have bids on it I can not revise the item to say collection from home. Where do I stand with this..Should I have made the listing more clearer.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Never ever allow a courier arranged by the buyer.

You should arrange yourself or insist on collection. You do not have to agree to them arranging a courier as its very unsafe for you. As a seller you're totally responsible for getting the item to the buyer.

Tell them no, its collection only. Add to the description to say collection only and cash preferred.

You should still be able to add to the description.Use BOLD letters stating, collection from your home only,no couriers by buyer arrangement" or something to that affect.

NO! do NOT allow your buyer to send a courier, a man with a van or a friend as it is very unsafe for you.

Courier could take the saddle and then the buyer could claim fraudulent use ot his/her card.

You have no proof of delivery and besides, there is no protection on collected good.

Collection means Collection IN PERSON and you should ask for Cash, not paypal. Although you can't refuse Paypal, you CAN say "cash on collection PREFFERED" in your listing.

Sorry, should say collection in person from your home.

As above, cash is the safest way to be paid for collected items, although you can not refuse pay pal,you can say cash on collection.

If the buyer is dictating the tems I'd have no hesitation in cancelling his bids and blocking him. If you accept a courier YOU will have to pack the item, YOU will have to wait in all morning/afternoon or all day (guy on here had a day off work and the courier never turned up), any damage caused in transit will be YOUR responsibility

Here's what I put on my collection only items, feel free to copy and paste it into your listing if you think it approropriate  NO Courier Delivery - NO Courier Collection - NO Man with a Van - NO Friend or Relative

if the buyer should read "if the BIDDER"

BTW you can edit (ADD only) the listing if there are more than 12 hours left

neimauma,no harm a relative or friend collecting on the buyers behalf,as many do,and with no problems.

plum, that depends on what the item is esp if the friend / relative knows nothing about the item ~ what it is ~ what it does ~ how it works ~ how to test or examine it

Cancel that person's bid and add their id to your blocked bidder list.  Always do this at the first sign of trouble.
