The receipt will be of no use to you, just make a copy of it and send the original out with the phone.

I can see no reason not to.

If the phone is lost in the post you will need the original receipt to claim compensation from Royal Mail. (I assume that you will be using special delivery post.)

I would explain this to the buyer, and say that you will send the receipt to him separately once the phone has arrived safely.

Whether or not the guarantee is transferable is another matter.

Thank you both. I'm a bit bothered about sending the original receipt as its my mother's upgrade which I'm selling on her behalf, and the receipt has her address and home telephone number on. Does everybody send the original receipt when selling an upgrade?? Surely the manufacturers guarantee will be invalid anyway?

Ok, this is what I've decided. To access Nokia support and troubleshooting you only need the IMEI number (Which is on the box) and postcode of the original purchaser so I'm happy to give the buyer that. After that I've said if a problem occurs he'll have to contact me and I can contact Nokia using the original receipt.
