Why are my second chance offers not currently available to the buyers?

I have offered a number of second chance offers to bidders on items where I had more than one. I have just been contacted by one of the buyers to say that they have tried to buy it now but is being told that it is currently unavailable. Why is this and what can I do about it?

I've never used the option myself, but the Help page mentions duration of offers and number of items available etc., so you may find a solution/reason here:
