I listed an item as collection only, someone bid on it and won, now he wants me either to post it or relist the item.

Is the buyer obliged to pay what he has bid on the item, or should I just give up and relist it? I'm a bit annoyed to have to pay the insertion fees again, and I've emailed asking if he'd consider hiring a courier, but he hasn't responded, and I'm not sure what to do now.

How annoying - how did he think you'd post those?

You need to either complete an unpaid item dispute or do a cancellation before relisting as you need to close off this transaction before starting another.

I would send a cancellation request to him and let him know that he needs to agree to it purely for you to recoup your fees and that there's no comeback on himself by accepting.

Once you relist then if they sell on the second time of listing then you'll get a credit on your account for one listing fee - unfortunately if not then you'll lose both fees.

If you click on the drop down menu at the end of the item on your 'sold' list there's a option to 'resolve a problem' and the cancellation process is on there.

This is the 3rd time recently I've seen an item listed where the seller stipulates collection in person, yet the listing states 'FREE' in the basic view (before the listing is fully viewed) as opposed to 'Collect in Person; Free'.

The Postage & Payment view states Free Collection in person but also gives the sellers despatch time (1 working day).

With all of these listing that I've seen the eBay wording under the "add to list" pop down is 'collection in person is offered' and 'delivery varies'

Is it possible these sellers have selected FREE Postage AND Collect in Person

It is not wise to let the buyer send a courier to collect.

it would mean you have no seller protaection should they ' go missing' or get damaged en route.

I think your buyer knew perfectly well that they were collection only as its clear to see on the listing.

I know that some buyers still bid knowing that, and hope they can push the seller into shipping.
