Help! A buyer in Spain did not pay and has turned very nasty what do I do?
Sep 22, 2012 09:24 PM

A buyer in Spain bid and won three items a week ago. I'd stated payment within three days and sent an invoice immediately. I heard nothing so after 4 days I sent a polite reminder. Still no reply so I opened an unpaid item case today. He has just paid and immediately opened an item not recieved immediately after. He sent me a nasty email blaming me for not waiting and telling me he was claiming item not received. How could he claim item not received within a minute of paying! I don't want his money and I don't want to send the items but everything seems 'held' and I can't refund him. I think he was really backing out of the deal. What do I do? Please help! I feel so upset by his threatening email!

Ensure that you keep all of his emails saying that he was opening the case against you and the reasons why.  I would contact Customer Services and tell them what has happened and that you have only just received payment and that he only made the payment after your reminder.

Also ensure that you add him to your blocked bidders list!

Firstly report the message he has sent you.

Secondly I would phone ebay customer services. Get them to look at your messages he has sent you, the time he paid and time he opened the case - point out that this is not going to be a very good transaction as the buyer clearly is unreasonable opening up a case straight after paying. See if they will cancel the transaction - It can happen, friend of mine had similar thing and ebay were good on him because of timings of payment ad case opening.

You may have to be persistent with Customer Support.  Dublin are very good and you can often get through to them by calling just after 9am on a weekday.

Hi,

I assume they opened the dispute through PayPal as on eBay they can't open until 3 days after the estimated delivery date shown on the listing?!

There's also an eBay form for reporting buyer claim abuse:
