Hi.

No you have no protection on a gift payment or a personal payment.

If you are buying goods, then best say it is for goods

If you pay as a gift it means no fees charged to buyer and it would be expecting too much to expect protection as well.

If you buy on Ebay, pay the correct way if you want to be covered, otherwise buyer could just keep your money, after all a GIFT is not usually expected to be refunded.

also, off eBay deals wont be covered by eBay or PayPal as they are what they are 'off eBay' and not allowed............... and not safe.

Stick to buying via listings and you wont go wrong.

If you are paying for goods, then you will not be covered if you send a gift payment.

You only maintain buyer protection by sending payment for goods

It sunds as though someone is trying to con you into doing an "off-eBay" deal. That way they will evade eBay's fees and with luck (from their point of view) you may be naive enough to pay in a way which gives you no buyer protection.

Almost every day someone posts here to say that they have done this and have been conned. Be careful that it doesn't happen to you!
