Can a buyer cancel a request to return item through ebay once made?
Oct 27, 2012 01:21 AM

I have just had a return item case opened with no prior contact from the buyer to say there was a problem. Had she done so I would simply have refunded her and told her to keep the item as its not worth the hassle. Does this case count as a black mark on my account?

If so could the buyer cancel the case if I can get her to agree?

If you refund through paypal refund button in full, I think that closes the case.

Your buyer will have been asked if they contacted you, (it's the first question asked in a dispute), so I presume they must have been economical with the truth.:(

I would send a polite note through ebay messages, that you are disappointed that they didn't contact you, as you would have refunded in full and thus avoided opening a dispute.

If you use ebay messages, ebay can read your comments, in the case of an appeal, if the case isn't closed.

Thanks for your answer. To be honest was more concerned about it counting against me as have already had a warning over listings (didn't realise the knife in a wedding cake slice box was such a menace to society!). Thought if she could cancel it would be easier, but didn't want to ask if not possible.

  Thanks again

hi,

as long as you refund through paypal the case will be closed and there will be no effect to your account, do not contact them as this will show as contact was made as it does not register when it was done, this way you will get 5 stars automatically for communication should they leave feedback, if any contact is made wether it be you or the buyer they would then be able to leave low DSR's for that criteria.
